The VSK Duraiswamy Nadar English Matriculation and Hr Sec School was founded on the 13th of July, 1969 with six children. The founder Shri V.S.K Duraiswamy Nadar envisaged a school open to all girls, awarding scholarships to deserving girls from poor families, so as to make the school a public school in the true sense of the word. The students were expected to achieve distinction through what they did rather than who they were or who their parents were. One of the goals of the school is to provide young Indians with an all round education and instill in them a respect for the ideals of secularism, discipline, and equality. Old girls of the school are placed well in all professional careers in life.

The School is financed by a trust which was created by Late Shri.V.S.K.Duraiswamy Nadar during his life time. The A.S.K.R. Trust is self financing and has a regular income from its own investments. The trust is managed by the Board of Trustees which also manages the school. The school is also supported by V.S.K.Duraiswamy Nadar Trust.

While all expenses of the school are met from the income generated by the Trust, for any expansion or improvement the school welcomes any help in the form of donations which qualify under section 80G of the Income Tax Act.

The school welcomes donation for scholarships in any area of education for the students. This can be part of full scholarship for students based on merits or financially needy students. Donations should be made payable to "A.S.K.R. TRUST"
   
  The School Year
  Students join in nursery and other classes in the beginning of the academic year. The academic year runs from June to May with two months break in April and May. Founder’s day, Sports Day, School Day are celebrated annually in the third week of January.

was unveiled by Thiru R. Rajasankaralingam,
M. A., on 21. 01. 1993. The urn containing the
ashes of Tmt. V. S. K. D. Annalakshmiammal
was buried under the statue.

Pre-Kindergarten Classes

It is being run in the name of Annalakshmi Play School. Both boys and girls are admitted in P.K.G. The class is well-equipped with all kinds of play things necessary for the intellectual and Physical Development of the kids. Boys and girls below the age of 3 are admitted here.

Yeomen Service To The Middle Classes

An institution which has stood for 30 years and has been doing yeomen service, especially to the middle classes in Sivakasi, is the V.S.K.D school.
  The school charges only reasonable fees to suit the purse of the middle class people. At present Mr. D.A Rajan is the correspondent. He has significantly contributed to the growth and development of the school. Besides being a man of character he is well educated and a man of principles. Now the school is headed by the delightful and dynamic personality, Dr. C. Sarada Devi. She is gentle, vigilant and soft-spoken. The teachers are sound and well-versed in their subjects. With the help of the devoted principal and dedicated staff, Mr.Rajan is confident that the school will continue to play a stellar role in providing quality and affordable education. Our Motto is "Higher and Higher".
